Back and Forth

I’ll be leaving here for  two wonderful weeks of teaching at the John Campbell Folk School, home just to unpack and repack and off for LA to teach at Backspace Books.

I’ll be on the road basically til December 21st but will check in now and then when I can with pics of new work.

Enjoy my new collage.

Off to Folk School

I’m about to leave for my annual two weeks of teaching at a magical place- the John C. Campbell Folk School. I encourage you to look at the wealth of classes offered year-round here.

First week will be mixed media Adventurous Dolls and the second week will be Polymer clay Books. I’ll try to check in now and then while I’m there.  Here’ a couple pics of what we’ll work on.

This polymer clay doll is called Witness.

And these are two  polymer clay miniature books.

another new brooch

Sometimes to get me started in the studio I have to set parameters.

When I have trouble just settling in, or settling on  what to make, it helps me to limit sources, imagery, color palette- some kind of restriction.  Maybe it’s the challenge that this presents that gets me going.

So a simple black and white palette was the task for this piece.

travel and new work

I’ve been on the road recently- a lovely teaching experience at the Artist Nook in Colorado- Thanks to Christine Webb and all the ladies who came out to play.  I had a great time.

I haven’t had much time to play in the studio but have had time to take some new pictures of work done in the last few months.

The Bezel is coconut shell and the polymer clay uses transfers collaged along with applique techniques.

More pictures to come.
